Open in Google MapsLau Pa Sat (meaning "old market" in Hokkien) is one of Singapore's most iconic landmarks. The stunning Victorian cast-iron structure was built in 1894 and is a gazetted national monument.
The centre is most famous for Satay Street — every evening from 7pm, Boon Tat Street is closed to traffic and transformed into an open-air satay paradise. Multiple stalls grill satay over charcoal, filling the air with irresistible smoky aromas.
During the day, Lau Pa Sat serves the Raffles Place office crowd with a variety of hawker fare. Some stalls operate 24 hours, making it a popular late-night supper spot.
